Hematology Services
The Department of Hematology serve's both pediatric and adult hematology and hemato-oncology patients. The department sees 600 new outpatients, with a wide spectrum of hematological conditions and serves about 200 inpatients every year. Acute Lymphatic Leukemia is being treated with German BFM protocols with 80 to 90% long-term survival in children. The department has over 20 new patients with severe aplastic anemia each year and provides consultation hematology services for all patients under various medical and surgical services in the hospital.
Hemophilia
Comprehensive care is available for patients with hemophilia. Major surgery is also being performed for these patients in the institution. Efficacy and safety of low dose factor replacement for post-operative hemostasis is being evaluated and practiced in the hospital with excellent results.
Bone Marrow Transplantation
The department has a three-bed positive pressure HEPA filtered laminar flow Bone Marrow Transplant unit. Patients with the following indications can be considered for Bone Marrow Transplantation:
